Hope and wait: review of The Shawshank Redemption

For a long time, The Shawshank Redemption has received overwhelming praise from people.

And today, I finally have some free time to sit down alone and enjoy this awesome movie.

Since there is no need to introduce the plot of this movie, I am writing this passage to share my thoughts about it, instead of recommending it to you.

Actually, this is the first movie that made me want to record the lines and write a review for it. I gotta admit, this movie is really something.

It portrays truth and simplicity without relying on special effects.

This movie has a abundance of popular and meaningful lines.

Here’s what I love about this movie.

I guess it comes down to a simple choice: get busy living or get busy dying.

This is the one I like the most.

This sentence means that you have to choose between leading an active and purposeful life or allowing yourself to stagnate and suffer a slow decline towards death. Essentially, it is a call to action to live life to the fullest and make the most of your time.

Some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone.

This quote expresses the idea that some people or things are not meant to be limited or restrained. When they are finally free, they can be truly appreciated. The metaphor compares birds with bright feathers to people with exceptional talents or personalities, who cannot be held back by society’s restrictions. While it may feel good for these individuals to be liberated from their confinement, their absence can leave a significant void in the lives of those around them. The quote suggests that we should not try to hold back those who are born to be free but instead embrace them and find joy in their unique qualities.

Trust me, it’s definitely worth watching. Maybe the best movie I have ever seen.

Despite the advancement of technology, modern science fiction films seem to lack the depth and thought-provoking elements.

The Shawshank Redemption is a realistic movie that exposes the flaws of the American justice system and the hypocrisy of human nature. By portrays Andy’s self-redemption and Brooks’ destruction, The film struck a chord with the viewers, compelling them to ponder on the themes of self-redemption and the flawed American justice system. I believe I will watch it again and again for both learning English and deeper contemplation.
